希臘5日舉行關鍵性公投，人民將決定是否接受國際紓困條件。支持與反對者3日在雅典等城市「大車拚」，舉行最後的造勢集會。而公投題目意思抽象，則被批為「毫無意義、分化人民並傷害國家」。
至3日為止公布的民調顯示，支持與反對紓困的比率相當接近，但支持方略有增加。而大多數（約75％）的人則希望國家留在歐元區。
3日晚上，約3萬名反紓困的群眾，聚集在雅典國會大樓前的憲法廣場，用希臘語大喊「oxi、oxi」（不、不）。希臘總理齊普拉斯登台對群眾說，「向最後通牒與恫嚇你的人，說『不』。這不是抗爭，而是慶祝擊退恐懼與脅迫」。齊普拉斯將其左派政府的未來，以這項公投孤注一擲。
反紓困的雅典居民安東尼奧表示，「我們必須支持齊普拉斯，我們破產不是他的錯．．．這場公投並非要決定留不留在歐元區，而是留下來，但是轉變方向。」
另一方面，泛雅典運動場則聚集了支持紓困條件的民眾，約2萬2千人。他們揮舞著希臘國旗與歐盟旗，高喊「希臘、歐盟、民主」。
一名民眾伯查拉表示，「投『贊成』票，這樣能帶來看守政府，也許比較好．．．我們得從頭開始。」
雅典市長卡米尼斯現身支持紓困集會，卻批評公投毫無意義。他向群眾說，「公投的問題是什麼意思，人民連這都不知道。我們被拖進這場無意義的公投，它正在分化人民而且傷害國家。」
這次公投題目詢問人民，是否接受「歐盟執委會、歐洲央行與國際貨幣基金組織於6月25日提出的兩個統整提議：一，為完成現行與未來債務重整計劃所需推行之改革；二，債務可持續性初步分析」。
希臘最高行政法院3日開會至傍晚後做出決議，駁回反對黨要求裁決公投合法性的訴訟。另外，16名退役軍方領袖罕見地聯名寫信，要求人民「保持冷靜與國家團結」。
政府實施資本管制已將近一周，食物與藥因而短缺的謠言令民眾恐慌，銀行不知何時重啟大門也令民心浮動。
35歲、有2個小孩的安東尼歐表示，「聽說商店的麵粉、糖、鹽快要沒有了，我真的很擔心。無法領錢，又沒食物可買，我們該怎麼撐下去？」
